A blended learning approach was adopted for this digital storytelling project conducted in a language experience module. The project aimed at integrating face-to-face classroom and technology based learning opportunities in an effective way.

Sharing of classroom practices such as tips on effective classroom management by practicing teachers in a series of panel discussions demonstrated how theory might be translated into practice. Some of these experiences were captured on tapes to provide a rich and practical source of contextual knowledge for our beginning teachers.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a zillion? - as in the traditional show-n-tell video. Hence, videos were often used to transform tacit knowledge to its explicit visual form to facilitate teaching and learning as in an e-learning project for Voice Production & Vocal Health, a sub-module of Communication Skills for Teachers (CST) where visuals form a good part of the e-learning package.

Besides the use of video streaming technology to deliver instructional video materials over the web, video materials may be packaged onto a CD/DVD ROM underpinned by sound pedagogical principles for self-directed learning. For example, in the MEd871 and MEd872 modules, the lectures were chunked according to topics and sub-topics with each sub-topic not more than 20 minutes.

The series of videos feature a selection of Singapore school principals who talk about their work as curriculum and instructional leaders and how they have together with their teams of teachers designed unique pedagogical approaches for subject teaching and learning. These videos are used for students in the Leaders in Education Programme and Master of Education (Curriculum and Teaching) programme to illustrate design principles and the processes of curriculum development and implementation.
